The Mexican Under-23 national team is off to a flying start in Olympic qualifying.

Mexico kicked off its quest to reach the Summer Games in London with a 7-1 thrashing of Trinidad and Tobago in a Group B match at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Friday night.

Marco Fabian led the way for El Tri with a hat trick, while Alan Pulido, Israel Jimenez, Diego Reyes and Javier Cortes also scored for Mexico, Orlando City midfielder Kevin Molino netted late for Trinidad and Tobago to prevent Mexico from recording a shutout in a game that saw the CONCACAF heavyweight take 35 shots.

In the first match of the Group B doubleheader, Honduras took care of business with a 3-1 win over Panama. Eddie Hernandez and Mario Martinez netted for Los Catrachos before Yairo Glaize pulled one back for the Panamanians early into the second half. Alexander Lopez put the game away with a goal three minutes before the death.

D.C. United's Andy Najar played 59 minutes for Honduras in the match, while FC Dallas left back Carlos Rodriguez went the distance for Panama.
