This Weekend’s Soccer on TV

Liverpool is fresh off obtaining something that Arsenal has craved for years — a trophy. The Gunners, though, are currently situated in a place where Liverpool would like to be — a UEFA Champions League spot.

The two teams clash at Anfield in one of the high-profile matches of the weekend, with the Reds looking to chip away at a seven-point deficit between them and fourth-place Arsenal while both try to overcome key injury absences to pick up the three points. In another huge match in England, Tottenham hosts Manchester United in a game featuring two of the three teams that still have realistic shots at the Premier League championship.

Elsewhere in Europe, Michael Bradley had his say in the United States' victory over Italy, and he can leave his mark on the Serie A race as well as his Chievo Verona looks to deal title-chaser Juventus its first loss of the season.

As for MLS, the 2012 regular season is just about a week away, and preseason tournaments are winding down. The finals and consolation games of the Desert Diamond Cup and Disney Pro Soccer Classic take place Saturday night as teams make final adjustments before the games start to really count.

  1. They do have live only games, but from my experience, if you go to the Soccernet website it will tell you in brackets if the game is live only in the ESPN Matches of the Week box…

  2. Actually they do have games on ESPN3 that are Live only (I’ve found out too late). I’m not sure how one goes about finding out which ones can be watched on the site later and which ones can’t.

  3. not 100% sure but I think they usually have replays of pretty much any game they show on ESPN3.
as a *true* fan, it doesn’t bother me to get up at 7:00, of course but I could see how thosen weak souls of lesser devotion might find it a struggle (I keed, I keed)

  4. Try living out here on the west coast. It’s on TV live on ESPN2 at 4:30 in the morning tomorrow. I’ll likely stay up all night and watch it..

  5. Anybody know if that Liverpool-Arsenal game is live only on espn3.com? It’d be awesome to not have to get up at 7 on a Sat to watch it.
