No, you need to check your mentality because of your patronizing attitude in deciding what is “okay” for Tottenham. They’re doing just fine.
This current Spurs team is talented enough to potentially take down United. Not the team that played them 10 games ago. Not even the team that played them 2 games ago. If you think Tottenham’s results against United in years past has anything to do with the current team’s “mentality”, well, OK. You can go ahead and come up with any narrative that pleases you, and the rest of us will live in reality, where sometimes teams lose games, particularly to teams that are better than them, and it has nothing to do with mentality.
So I need to check my mentality because my opinion doesn’t agree with yours? I don’t think that’s how it works. As an example, it’s a fact Tottenham hasn’t beaten United in over 20 games, but they obviously have the talent to beat United, so wouldn’t the fact that they can’t beat United raise a question of mentality?
The title was out of reach for Tottenham before the game began. It’s okay being several points behind and hoping the team above you will slip up, but when there are two teams there they are not both going to falter.
Tottenham under Redknapp have done superbly to be where they are, and I expect them to finish third and take automatic qualification for the Champions League. That is a formidable achievement when up against Abramovich’s billions.

Look, all credit to United. They were better when it counted and absolutely deserved all three points. But as a Spurs fan, yeah, we outplayed United, and it is OK. It’s not as if our Champions League hopes are in crisis. The title was out of reach anyway and it’s going to be hard to fall out of third, so, whatever. Not a huge deal. This “mentality” business is silly. You don’t have to go out of your way to denigrate Spurs. They’re the third best team in the Premiership. Good enough to beat the top 2 on any given day, but likely to lose more often than win. Yeah, that is OK, for now. Excuse me if I think it’s a little ridiculous for a United fan to think he’s the one who can say what’s OK and what’s not OK for Spurs. If you want to criticize “mentality”, start with your own.
As another United fan, all due to respect to Tottenham, United where without Cleverly, Valenica (who was one of the form players in the EPL), Smalling, and obviously Vidic, so it’s not like United were playing full strength either. It’s not United’s fault Spurs were missing those players. I do agree they have the talent to beat anyone though, but they lack the mentality to beat the big boys, at least consistently. They actually don’t beat United, ever…
Ha, so even though they lost at home to a direct rival to the title when they had the chance to prove they could hang with the big boys, it’s okay because they “outplayed” United? Sure…
I’m a United fan…. but Spurs outplayed United, and without Parker and Bale. It’s a damaging blow to Spurs’ title hopes, but they certainly have the talent to beat anyone, including Citeh. United were lucky, especially with those absences.
But, United found a way to win, took their chances. Can’t take that away from them.
Indeed they are. This scoreline does not reflect the action of the game very well. Yeah, ManU deserved to win because they uhh scored more goals, but especially in the first half Tottenham controlled all possesion and was generally more threatening.
ok. they wont fall out of the top 4 but i had outside hopes of them contending for the title. They are fun to watch
