Americans Abroad: A Look Ahead

Two Americans are still in contention for the FA Cup, and both will try and punch their tickets to the tournament final against some of the Premiership's most talented teams.

Tim Howard and Brad Friedel are a step away from playing for some hardware, but respective matches against Chelsea and Liverpool await. Howard and Everton will get their chance to advance first, playing Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Saturday in a Merseyside Derby game that is sure to be intense. Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur follow the next day at Wembley, as they take on a Chelsea side that has won four of its last five games across all competitions.

Another match in England worth watch will be Aston Villa's clash with Manchester United. The game should see Eric Lichaj go against the likes of Wayne Rooney, Nani and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, as the American has put together some solid showings at right and left back in recent weeks.

There's also a big game in Germany, as Andrew Wooten and Kaiserslautern cling onto their small hopes of avoiding relegation when they take on Timmy Chandler and FC Nurnberg. Kaiserslautern's fate this season seems all but sealed, but an upset win over Nurnberg could provide the lift Kaiserslautern needs to put together a string of positive results.

  1. Shame but Dempsey sure earned a weekend off. He’s at 16 league matches in 32 league matches. 6 more to go, he should be able to reach 20 right?

  2. Goodson is out on cards (3 in 25 matches) which is crazy but true. He should get a medal as a defender for only 3 cards all season!
