Chivas sign Colombian forward Correa

Chivas USA took a step toward upgrading their attacking options by turning to MLS' breeding ground for talent: Colombia.

Chivas signed 19-year-old Colombian striker Jose Erick Correa from club Boyaca Chico FC to augment a strike force that has managed just four goals in six games.

In Correa, Chivas get an in-form forward. He scored two goals over the weekend in Boyaca Chico's win over Cucuta Deportivo and his six goals in the club's 12 games are good for third-most in Colombia's top flight. His form earned him a call-up by coach Jose Pekerman to a brief Colombian national team camp for younger, domestic-based players this week, as well.

  1. Whatever their name is or what stadium they play in…the league better take this team seriously. Fraser is an excellent manager and they are making some nice moves.

  2. I really like the way this team is shaping up this year. If they can get Angel back and in form soon, they may be able to make some big waves in the west.

  3. Chivas is a mexican team in the US, can never change that. As long as you continue to target only latinos and have ties to Guadalajara i cant take you seriously

  4. i predict a deep playoff run for the chivas team. as long as they play on saturday nights and dont have to compete w/galaxy w/home games on the same weekend, they’ll do alright w/attendance.

  5. I think we answered one of the complaints against Chivas USA. We don’t just catch former galaxy players and aging veterans of mexico (as we did in our first few seasons).

Things are changing. We are moving in the right direction. 3 wins on the road to tough opponents, offensive minded additions, shored up back 4. Can’t wait to stand with my @blackarmy1850 brothers and sing when Philadelphia comes to town this weekend…
