The Houston Dynamo are in a bit of a personnel crisis with suspensions and injuries taking their toll on the club's roster, but the club augmented its defensive options on Friday with the signing of a young Mexican left back.
Houston acquired Oscar Recio on loan from Monterrey, a move that frees starting left back Corey Ashe to slide up to the midfield with Brad Davis nursing a calf injury.
Recio, 22, has played every minute of three Dynamo reserve matches and has been with the club since the beginning of the preseason.
With Davis injured and Adam Moffat and Colin Clark suspended for this weekend's match against Chicago, Recio, who is eligible to play immediately according to a team statement, could slide into the lineup right away. Jamaican centerback Jermaine Taylor had been receiving the minutes at left back for Houston when Ashe was deployed elsewhere.

FCD RECALLS JACKSON
A recent rash of injuries and lack of overall production have caused FC Dallas to turn to one of last season's more productive players.
The club has recalled Jackson from Brazilian side Cruzeiro, the club Dallas loaned him to in the offseason because of personal reasons. Jackson, a versatile player who saw minutes at just about every position for the club in 2011, can provides a big boost to the midfield, where the club has not been receiving a ton of production.
"We really felt it was important we strengthen our depth in the midfield as much as possible,” FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman said in a club statement. "Jackson wanted to come back to Dallas. He’s a player who knows our system and our players, and I expect his transition back into MLS will be very smooth."
DCU LOANS DYKSTRA
With Bill Hamid back in the picture after recovering from his ankle injury, D.C. United has loaned backup goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra to the Charleston Battery for the USL Pro club's next two matches.
The brief loan will see Dykstra away from D.C. for a week. It also provides a chance for him to get some minutes at the club for which he starred last year. He had a USL Pro-best 0.98 goals against average while with the Battery in 2011.
Hamid and Joe Willis will be available for D.C. this weekend at New England.
TORRES UNDERGOES SURGERY
The Philadelphia Union announced that Roger Torres had an MCL sprain earlier in the week, and Torres underwent surgery for that injury on Friday.
According to the club, Torres, whose full rights were purchased from Colombian side America de Cali in the offseason, will miss the next 6-to-8 weeks.
