Nice to see U-15 player and teammates celebrating like pros… a sign that developmental players are growing up with the culture of the game. When I was a developmental player in the 90’s, it was just a few high fives and a walk back to midfield.
LOL, it certainly should have been headed in. That would have been the path of least resistance and much easier. But, if he would have, does anyone really believe a video on SBI would have resulted and we all would be here throwing in all of our “expert” opinions?
Well, don’t forget that you’re analyzing it from one perspective though. Everyone here says he should’ve headed it…but for all we know, his team was already up 7 – 0 and he just wanted to see if the bicycle kick would work. I agree, if the game was on the line, 3 min of play left…probably not a good time to see if you can pretty up your gol.
I’ve seen a lot of soccer, and I’ve seen some incredible plays. But this was WAY up there, especially for someone under the age of 15.
Of course, a glancing header would be what most people would do in this situation. Nevertheless, the level of technique required to do what he did is absolutely top rate.
Anyone who says he can do that on a regular basis needs to meet Don Garber immediately. Because there are a few MLS teams who could use you.

You may be educated about the game but you’re clearly anti-Jozy and don’t care about the enormous sample of quality play he’s shown this season. If you’re so educated and can scout players better than a top team in the Eredivisie, why in the hell don’t you have a job doing it?
Simple. Have u ever seen Jozy keep the ball within five yards of himself after a first touch? Doensn’t take a talent scout to realize that. Just someone educated about the game.
Hahaa Congrats…. you managed to take a clip of a teenage player making an amazing play and found a way to turn it into a self important insult of his decision and a nationals talent. Talent scout perhaps? Many would like to know how can you possibly reach a conclusion about someone’s touch based on one play? The heights a soap box can reach on the internet never seizes to amaze me.
Christ people, you’re talking about putting a 40 yard curling ball on frame with one touch while facing the sideline like any half decent player can do it.
From that trajectory a volley is low percentage and a header would need to be of the glancing/dummy variety.
So a 15 year old kid improvises and pulls something incredible out of his hat. Just applaud it and stop sucking the joy out of life.
Unless this is all an elaborate ruse mocking the people who complain about the ‘must see-ness’ of these goals. If that’s the case, then my apologies and carry on.
Beautiful touch, but just because the result was positive doesn’t mean it was the right decision. However, in one play he shows he has a better first touch than Jozy ever will
exactly what i thought. why does he initially kick the ball away from goal to then bicycle it, even though no one except the goalie was between him and the goal? if this was balotelli, people would be saying he was hotdogging it and he’d be benched. First touch should’ve been in. The kick w/the side of his boot makes no sense except that he thinking too much, and probably figuring there’d be a defender when the ball arrived
Agreed. Had he missed that, we’d all (if we ever saw this for some reason) be calling him an idiot for not heading it in, or taking it directly on the volley, or even chesting it down and playing it into the goal.
To me it looks like he horribly misjudged the flight of the ball and made a great recovery. Perhaps a good analogy would be a golfer who holes a chip out of the sand…impressive yes, but not the best play in either situation to end up where they did.
Not taking anything away from the strike, but wouldn’t it have been much easier to just head the ball? The angle is weird but it looks like he’s 5-6 yards behind everyone else.

Awesome goal…but as a defender, if someone did that while I was marking him, I’m running over his face the next time he’s anywhere near the ball.

I am with the group of commenters who indicate (correctly) that he made a real meal out of the nice ball in and then used some skill to score.
A professional coach would look at it and say, this kid doesn’t know what he is doing.
He should of either volleyed/headed into the net on the first touch.

The more logical thing would have been to one-time it in with a header.
Goalie made a great effort to even get near that too. Man, American keeps are so good. Doubt we’ll ever lack for good players at that position.
