Saunders PK save salvages win for Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy looked like they had a win in the bag in Colorado when they took a 2-0 lead on the Rapids heading into the second half, but an Omar Cummings wonder goal and a 90th minute penalty call threatened the Galaxy's first road win of the season.

That's before Josh Saunders stepped up and saved a Cummings penalty, canceling out a highly-questionable penalty call against David Junior Lopes and handing the Galaxy a 2-1 victory at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

The Galaxy opened the scoring courtesy of a Marvell Wynne own goal before Donovan scored his second goal in as many games in the 39th minute. The Galaxy's second straight win looked to be in safe hands before Cummings unleashed a beautiful goal to pull the Rapids to within a goal. When Lopes was called for a foul on Andre Akpan in the penalty area, the Rapids looked to have a complete in hand. Cummings couldn't produce the equalizer though, hitting a weak penalty that Saunders saved easily.

The win improved the Galaxy's record to 3-3, and dropped the Rapids to 3-4.
