SBI MLS Team of the Week: Philadelphia Union

It's not that often that a team with nine men walks off the field as winners, but the Philadelphia Union were able to do just that Saturday night.

The Union held off Chivas USA 1-0 despite red cards to Keon Daniel and Gabriel Farfan for violent challenges, getting a back-heel goal from Freddy Adu, stout goalkeeping from Zac MacMath and a solid overall defensive effort to take home SBI's MLS Team of the Week honors.

The win marked the second straight for the Union after an 0-3-1 start, and MacMath now has a 332-minute shutout streak after early-season woes had some questioning whether he was ready for the No. 1 job. The Union will look to make it three wins in a row against the San Jose Earthquakes this weekend, but they'll have to do so without Daniel, Farfan and manager Peter Nowak, who will all be suspended for the match.

Philadelphia beat out San Jose, who used more Steven Lenhart guile to top nine-man Real Salt Lake and take over first place in the West; Portland, who became the first team to knock off Sporting Kansas City, doing so via an own goal; and D.C. United, who bounced back from a disappointing home draw with Montreal to rout the rival New York Red Bulls.

What did you think of the Union's victory? Did you thnk a different team had a better Week 7?
