Toronto FC keeps on putting up impressive results in CONCACAF Champions League play, but continue to disappoint in MLS action.

The Canadian squad followed up their 1-1 draw against Mexican League leaders Santos Laguna on Wednesday with a flat performance in a 1-0 loss to Columbus at BMO Field on Saturday.

Toronto enjoyed an edge in possession on the day, but could not translate that into legitimate chances against a Crew side missing starting goalkeeper Wil Hesmer. The Crew nearly broke through in the first half after drawing a penalty, but Milos Kocic saved Milovan Mirosevic's penalty.

Mirosevic factored into the Crew's game-winning goal when he stripped Julian DeGuzman in midfield, sparking a counterattack led by Bernardo Anor, who worked a give-and-go with Olman Vargas before beating Kocic from 12 yards out for the only goal of the match.

Here are the match highlights:

The victory improved Columbus to 2-1 on the season, while the defeat dropped Toronto FC to 0-3 in MLS play.

What did you think of the match? Starting to wonder if Toronto FC is destined for another awful MLS season? Think Columbus is a legitimate contender in the East?

  1. Hey Toronto… welcome to the NYRB club.. we have been miserable for 16 years, now things are starting to look bright.. but only the strong fans survive, literally.

  2. If we lose to Montreal next Saturday Winter will have lost all the goodwill he’s accumulated during the CCL run
