Real Salt Lake saw two leads disappear and looked destined to settle for a point against FC Dallas on Saturday.

Then Nat Borchers delivered a stoppage-time finish any forward, let alone centerback, would be proud off.

Borchers struck a close-range shot into the top corner of the net in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to give Real Salt Lake a 3-2 victory at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday night.

Alvaro Saborio notched two goals on the night for an RSL side playing without Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando (who were on U.S. national team duty), but Dallas answered after each finish, with Blas Perez tying things up in the 85th minute.

Borchers finally found the winner, pouncing on the loose ball and calmy striking a curling shot into the far corner to give RSL all three points.

  1. It looked like a great game but with Gil now being called up to the U20 USMNT I am now starting to get concerned about RSL midfield depth as a fan. We will now be without Beckerman, Morales and Gil for a couple of weeks. Add in Rimando, Wingert and possible international call ups for Saborio and Johnson, RSL may be fielding a USL squad here soon.

They have some really good depth, but that is almost an entire starting 11 that will be gone. Hopefully we can keep getting it done.

  2. RSL was certainly missing the calmness of Morales and Beckerman in the middle. But the game was a ton of fun to watch.

  3. Best game of the year. Both teams defended and attacked well. A draw would have been fair but that’s why you play to the final second.

  4. What a game! Probably the most entertaining MLS game of the season to this point. RSL is always involved in the wild ones. DC/NE and MTL/COL were also wild 3-2 games. The US game overshadows everything else, but some great games all over the place tonight–Portland, too. And TFC got some points!
