Teal Bunbury opened his account with two goals against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, but even that was not enough to put a halt to Sporting Kansas City's winless streak.

The Rapids rallied from a pair of early first-half strikes from Bunbury and picked up a point with a 2-2 draw at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, extending Sporting KC's winless run to four games.Tyrone Marshall scored early into the second half to spark the comeback, and Kosuke Kimura knocked in the equalizer shortly thereafter.

Making his second start of the season, Bunbury headed home the opener seconds into the game before scoring from close range in the 14th minute. But the Rapids responded early in the second half when Marshall headed home a free kick from Martin Rivero in the 52nd minute, and it took only eight more minutes until the hosts pulled level through a close-range finish from Kimura.

The draw dropped Sporting KC to third in the Eastern Conference and left Colorado in fifth place in the Western Conference.

  1. Nice comeback for the draw. Except for the first 15 mins, the Rapids looked like Bayern to Sporting’s Chelsea, but with a better outcome 🙂
