Real Madrid is returning to Philadelphia.
The Spanish champions will play Celtic as part of the World Football Challenge on Aug. 11 at Lincoln Financial Field. According to a release, the match will be Celtic's only one during the tournament, but Real Madrid has also signed on to play the Los Angeles Galaxy and Juventus.
It marks the second straight summer that Madrid will play at Lincoln Financial Field after tangling with the Philadephia Union there last summer in front of more than 50,000 fans.
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, which first reported the friendly, organizers in Philadelphia have been eyeing another match with Madrid since last year's friendly. This year's match will mark a busy weekend of soccer in The City of Brotherly Love, as the Union host the Chicago Fire the following day.
Can’t wait to see how over priced the tickets will be.
i might attend this.
Oh yeah, well the Fire are playing almost-relegated Aston Villa at Toyota Park and at Wrigley it’s Roma vs. some Polish team they dug up to cater to the demographic. Top that!
Reading is fundamental. Real Madrid will play Celtic the day before the Union play the Fire. The games will be played in two different stadia (Rm v Celtic at the Linc, Union v Fire at PPL.)
yawn
really? a League match the following day? what a joke
