When the defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy are honored at the White House on Tuesday, goalkeeper Josh Saunders will be right alongside his teammates, according to a club release.

After announcing that Saunders will be away from the club indefinitely to enter the league's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program a day earlier, the Galaxy announced on Monday that Saunders was approved to join the team in Washington, D.C. for the visit with President Barack Obama.

The Galaxy statement on Saunders' reads: “With the approval of the club, MLS and the medical professionals who are in charge of the MLS Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program, Josh will be in attendance, along with a representative from the program, for the club’s White House visit on Tuesday before returning to the program that night.”

Obama will honor the Galaxy on the White House's South Lawn on Tuesday for their 2011 MLS Cup championship and then participate in a clinic with first lady Michelle Obama afterwards.

  2. Bad move.. Saunders should sit this trip out… dumb decisions deserve consequences… hes not going to learn anything if he keep getting passes… that being said I hope he overcomes whatever he is currently dealing with
