The San Jose Earthquakes are no longer a one-man show, but that hardly means that their go-to guy is not doing his part in the club's resurgence.
Chris Wondolowski's prolific season continued in April, as he scored four goals and had two assists in helping lead the Earthquakes to a 3-0-1 record in the month and a place atop the Western Conference standings to earn SBI MLS Player of the Month honors.
Wondolowski scored twice in a crucial win over Vancouver, snapping the Whitecaps' record 427-minute shutout streak to open the season in the process. He then tallied a goal and an assist as San Jose twice came back from one-goal deficits to tie New York, scored the game-icing goal in a victory over Real Salt Lake and helped set up the opening strike in the Earthquakes' 2-1 win in Philadelphia over the weekend.
Wondolowski, whose eight goals are second-most in MLS, edged out the New York Red Bulls' Thierry Henry, D.C. United's Maicon Santos and Chris Pontius, Real Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman and Sporting Kansas City's Aurelien Collin for the monthly honors.
