This Weekend’s Soccer on TV

This weekend, it's all about Survival Sunday. Mostly, anyway.

One of the two Manchester clubs will be crowned Premier League champion, while Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham jockey for UEFA Champions League positioning and Bolton and QPR try to fend off relegation in Sunday's highly anticipated simultaneous slate of English soccer.

There's drama elsewhere, as well, though. German powers Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund clash in Saturday's final of the German Cup, Munich's final tune-up before next weekend's Champions League final. The Serie A Scudetto is already in Juventus' hands, but the fight for the league's final UCL place is fierce, with Udinese, Napoli, Lazio and Inter Milan all vying for the spot behind Juve and AC Milan.

The Mexican liguilla will be whittled down to two teams after this weekend's semifinals, while this weekend in MLS is focused on the opening of BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston and the Seattle-Real Salt Lake clash out West.

  1. FOX Soccer will have the ever popular Manchester United Summer Film Festival during the off season. Man United every night. Get used to it…

  2. Very let down i can’t watch Newcastle v Everton on TV. I’m so hyped for that game and hope that Newcastle can make it into the CL.

Also very bored with FSC TV listings today. All Man U/City, Chelsea, Arsenal games. *snoooooorrrre*

  3. actually, he is at least 1/2 right. at 10Am it’s Paid Programming and at 10:30 it’s a god show. Then the news starts at 11.

At least that’s what’s on in the Southeast.

I too am kind of disappointed that they didn’t run a heavy game on the main broadcast channel. Oh well, still a lot of choices tomorrow.

  4. Dempsey’s not playing because he doesn’t want to be “Cup Tied”. Aka help put the spurs out of champions league next year when he’s playing for them.

  5. Too many FOX affiliates want to air paid programming such as church shows on Sundays. Those paid programs make more money for the affiliates than EPL even if EPL were to draw 1 million viewers across the U.S.

  6. I’m disappointed that there’s not a game on Fox (regular Fox) this Sunday. Is there a reason why they aren’t showing Man U’s game on their flagship station?

  7. For you fanboys of Yanks playing abroad:

Check out Dallas-born Marco Vidal, who plays for Club Leon in Mexico.

8:55pm ET – Mexican Promotion Final 2nd Leg – Leon vs Correcaminos – FOX Deportes

Correcaminos (Beep Beep!) have a 2-1 lead from the 1st Leg.

  8. This is turning into a real cluster**** with Dempsey missing Fulham’s final game with a hip injury. Fox should put Everton or Bolton in that big FSC spot instead…
