Either Chelsea or Bayern Munich will be crowned the champion of Europe on Saturday.

The two clubs meet in the UEFA Champions League final, a match that is the highlight of the weekend slate despite both teams beating the odds to top favored Spanish sides Barcelona and Real Madrid en route to the final at Allianz Arena.

Other matches of importance are still carrying on in Europe this weekend, too, headlined by the Juventus-Napoli clash in the Coppa Italia final, Blackpool and West Ham's promotion playoff final and the last matchday in Ligue 1. Montpellier is looking to hold of PSG to clinch the title, and as many as seven teams are attempting to fight off relegation, including Charlie Davies' Sochaux.

On this side of the Atlantic Ocean, the champion of Mexico's clausura season will be determined, with CONCACAF Champions League finalists Santos Laguna and Monterrey duking it out in the second leg of the liguilla final. In MLS, the Los Angeles Galaxy and new-look Chivas USA meet in a rivalry match, the Cascadia Cup gets underway with Vancouver hosting Seattle, and the New York Red Bulls meet the Montreal Impact two days after dealing away Juan Agudelo for Heath Pearce.

  1. They had adult league had games here in NC scheduled for the day of the USA-England game in 2010. The players made such an uproar they postponed all the games for 30 mins before, during, and 30 mins after the game so we could all go to a bar to watch.

  2. Youth soccer administrators are mostly politicians who only care about protecting their own fiefdoms.

They don’t give 2 bits of —- about professional soccer at any level unless they own a piece of a club.

  3. +100 The soccer gods at AYSO in Chicago scheduled the season ending tournament during the USA’s first World Cup match in 2010. Absolutely dumbfounding. It wasn’t like they announced the world cup schedule 36 hours before the game.

  4. I am pissed that the kick off for my son’s soccer game is scheduled for the same time as the champion’s league final. The folks, who run youth soccer travel leagues in this country, are clueless. And this is happening in the soccer-crazy metro DC area, and not some remote outpost in the middle of nowhere.
