  1. Not quite. He has a 1.00 GPG average in finals, but he hasn’t scored in every one he played. He didn’t score in Moscow.

  2. Bayern hardly got whooped, and yes they deserved the win. Bayern had the better play and chances. Chelsea are very lucky and winning on a shootout is never whooping anyone.

  3. I’m not a fan of either team, although I find Bayern far less objectionable than Chelsea. That said, congrats to Chelsea on their well deserved championship.

  4. Agreed. He should get a new contract with a big salary increase. Great coaching job with a depleted team and anyone who truly believes Chelsea did not deserve the win is nuts. Loved it, such a pleasure to see Bayern get whupped at home in Munich in a game they had to have to salvage their miserable Dortmund-torpedoed season. Drogba’s header might be the best, most dramatic head shot ever. Incredible. And the guys from Bayern diving all game long. I don’t blame Torres for getting p!ssed late in the game and getting his yellow when the defender he had beat bad swooned on him (Torres was in a great position and moving toward what could have been the winning goal.)

And as I mentioned yesterday on another thread, Bayern was guilty of numerous hand-balls against Madrid without getting called on it once and then again last weekend against Dortmund where the ref did spot one but only gave a free kick, no yellow. And then the most blatant hand-ball of all last night with Schweinsteiger using his hand already in the 3rd minute in full open view. Amazing. Good to finally see a ref flash a yellow card.

German national team coach Jogi Low, with 8 Bayern players on the national squad, had said before the game that a loss would not help the team in Euro 2012. I bet Robben’s buddies on the Dutch national team will be patting him on the back when he goes to camp this week. A couple of months ago I saw Germany as Euro 2012 favorites. But now, I would not be surprised to see them crumble. Manuel Neuer in recent games is looking more and more human. I can imagine that every Euro 2012 team will be studying the penalty kicks of Luiz, Lampard, Cole and especially Drogba. Neuer also was playing a lot of mind games, standing near the penalty spot as Chelsea kickers came forward and then hitting the cross bar with his hands to make it shake, which I don’t think Fifa refs will allow in Euro 2012. Gonna be fun to see how Euro 2012 plays out. Can’t wait.

  5. It would be a gross injustice if Chelsea did not keep Di Matteo on as skipper. Bayern like United came up empty in all competitions. I can see either Robben or Ribery being sold and Heynckes fired, not for the CCL loss but for the Dortmund dominance. They must retool to beat Dortmund who ran right through their middle.
