The Los Angeles Galaxy have sorely been needing a confidence-building victory to help turn around their dismal season, and they may just have gotten it.

The Galaxy picked up a surprise 3-2 road win over Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday, rallying from an early 2-0 deficit to give RSL its first league loss in club history after being up by two. Galaxy captain Landon Donovan led the way in the comeback with a two-goal performance that included the winner while Mike Magee added one of his own.

Donovan's decisive finish came in the second half after a pinpoint pass from Magee found him streaking behind Real Salt Lake's back line, which had two costly turnovers to allow the Galaxy to pull level after early strikes from Kyle Beckerman and Alvaro Saborio.

Tony Beltran had the first gaffe, hitting a poor backpass to Nick Rimando that Donovan intercepted and knocked home. The other hiccup came early in the second half when Jamison Olave let a ball roll away to Magee, who slotted the equalizer off the far post and into the back of the net.

The victory, the Galaxy's second in a row, moved Los Angeles to within two points of the Colorado Rapids for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
