The San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy always bring plenty of tension and animosity to their 'California Clasico' rivalry, but the latest installment of their derby will bring an extra level of intensity because of just how much is on the line when they face off tonight.
The Earthquakes have moved into first place in the West, and need a victory tonight to ensure holding on to that spot. The LA Galaxy are riding a three-match winning streak and can climb even further up the standings with a victory tonight.
LA-San Jose is just one of the quality match-ups on tap today. In Columbus, the Crew will look to push Real Salt Lake's losing streak to three games, while Philadelphia looks to keep their recent momentum going in Houston when they take on a struggling Dynamo side.

Was Portland even playing?
Couldn’t agree more. Classless punk.
You would be pretty frustrated too if you just got overlooked for the very competition that you brought to your home country! Come on it was a harmless kick of the ball, at most a game or two suspension. Don’t over react just bc it is becks.
And by “a couple years ago” I meant “a week or two ago”…not sure how years came out in my typing.
I posted this earlier and my comment got deleted. what’s going on? some kind of LD conspiracy???
All I’m trying to figure out is what Landon’s comment was from a couple years ago that the commentator’s referenced just before halftime about hinting at retiring from international play.
hmmmm
If he doesn’t get a pretty decent suspension, the league has lost all credibility.
Wow all of his goodwill gone. Huge idiot. Multigame suspension at least. Wtf was that
Wow David Beckham is a HUGE POS.
Goodbye Beckham. Freaking joke. Get that moron out of the league.
What is going on!?!?!?!?! Hahaha this is insane
This game is insane lol, people are scoring goals from everywhere using everything.
Ridiculous finish from Wondo there.
A little make-up call there on the potential handball in the box.
There was a huge collision on a cross. 4-5 guys. I don’t remember if it was an arm or foot that got him, but he had a nice shiner and his eye was starting to swell shut throughout the first half.
Wow, this is a crazy game!!!
I came in at halftime after the Crew game ended – what happened to Busch?
That was a string of god-awful calls against San Jose. Can we please …. please get better officials… pleasseeee
And ANOTHER huge blown call. Lenhart is in on goal again and called offside when he’s a yard onside easy.
This is so freaking sad.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a half of soccer quite like this one anywhere.
Don’t really know what else one could ask for.
Okay forget what I just said about not complaining… but that’s horses&$ to card Lenhart for not hearing the whistle from 60 yards behind him with the crowd screaming and him on a fast break.
Ridiculous.
That was a huge middle finger to England’s Olympic coach from Beckham.
I’m going to just stop complaining about MLS officials and applaud only good decisions.
If you never hear from me again, that is why.
Juninhno throws an elbow into San Jose player’s throat and somehow only sees yellow.
seriously, what is it with these MLS refs?
hopefully he’ll get the post game works…
Seattle got robbed! Anyone that doesn’t think so doesn’t know soccer!….BTW I’m a neutral who could care less about either team….
Not to mention a subtraction on the offside no call
Granted NE could have scored two more that they put over the bar, but Sene was easily a meter offside on the first goal.
Seattle just cant get it right in league play right now, although Eddie Johnson looks like he may finally be coming on.
Edit: No call.
Julio Jones steps into and puts two hands into Espindola’s chest and tackles him as Espindola blows by him on the edge of the box.
Referee having a shocker.
Would love to hear the official’s explanation for why Eddie Gaven didn’t deserve a booking for a cynical scissor tackle from behind while pulling the player down by collar.
Revs do it again!
Perlaza not impressing
Union missed a golden chance, knocking on the door again…
Cut back and far post is his move, he’s done it a couple times this season.
I saw that: quite the move! I’m not sure the defense was really awake, but I predict a ‘must see’ video from Ives.
Another goal for Pontius. Deuce 2.0?
Wow! Is Eddie Johnson under some dillusion of getting on the Klinsman radar? 2 nice headers to put Seattle up on NE after giving up an early off side goal, all at 36 minutes!
Crew v RSL postponed for an hour due to power outage:

Um, 7 minutes in, Toronto 1-Red Bulls 1. Maybe they should have brought their goalkeepers.
It would be something for Zakuani to make his return tonight. I will be at the game and I would love to see him back. Big game for the Revs to stay in the playoff picture
