U.S. Open Cup: Your Running Commentary

MLS teams will look to avoid becoming upset casualties for a second straight week as the unpredictable U.S. Open Cup continues. Cal FC and Michigan Bucks are the two lowest-tier teams remaining in the tournament, with Cal facing the daunting task of going up against the three-time defending champion Seattle Sounders at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash.

Live streams or television coverage are available for six of the eight matches. For one of the games without video, D.C. United-Philadelphia Union, SBI will have post-match coverage, so keep an eye out for that. Here is the schedule for the night's matches:

  1. Had my eye on Gale Abossoumonde. He was partially responsible for both goals. He has a long way to go before he can be trusted on the back line in respect to the national team.

  2. Despicable no call on that handball in the RBNY – Harrison game… I mean, what was the officiating crew looking at? They didn’t even award a corner lol. It was a goal kick.

  3. San Jose through on the Lenhart header from Beta service. Sets up a battle with the Sounders. SJ looks hungry and will be tough at home. If there’s an end to the Sea 4peat path this could be it.

  4. Unlucky on the pk call, but the right call.
    How the timbers lost is beyond me, it looked cal fc played more organized tonight than last week. At least in the first 50 minutes.
