Dynamo extend winning streak to four matches with win in Toronto

The Houston Dynamo have already shown they can dominate at BBVA Compass Stadium, but success outside Houston has been much tougher to come by.

The Dynamo showed on Saturday that their fortunes on the road may be turning, as a pair of goals set up by Brad Davis helped Houston post a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon.

Calen Carr's goal just before halftime helped Houston take control, and as TFC chased for an equalizer, Brian Ching was able to knock home the insurance goal in the 86th minute.

The Dynamo managed to put up multiple goals for the fourth straight match despite missing leading scorer Will Bruin, who was sidelined with a calf injury. The victory moved the Dynamo to within a point of first-place New York, which takes on Montreal tonight.

Here are the match highlights:

What did you think of the action? Impressed with the Dynamo? Starting to wonder if TFC can really mount a long-distance playoff push?

  1. So glad to see Calen doing well. He had some tough luck with injuries here in Chicago. Got to know him with the Fire…what a wonderful person from a terrific family.

  2. Impostor! You can tell by the absence of criticism. Even cup winners have room for improvement.

    Hopefully Bruin gets back quick.

If the Cameron appeal goes through August 3rd rumor is we sign Rico Clark. That might be a final piece in a cup contender although if we were bright we’d trade a DM for a wing sub just to spread depth around better. Too many DMs.

I like Creavalle in the back and even if Ashe isn’t out injured we should be looking that direction. Ashe remains the weak defensive link.

I’m slightly concerned the known defensive depth is getting so thin. Maybe someone will get a CCL runout and we can see what is buried on the reserves. I don’t want to be stuck with Sturgis or Sarkodie.

  3. BoBo says MLS should be concerned about Toronto.

The people who bought season tickets will not be back next year. Bobo says 7 year itch has started. League needs TFC ticket sales.

  4. I’m african american, born in Chicago and residing in Texas. I’ve been a season ticket holder of the Houston Dynamo ever since they arrived in TX in 2006. My family and I also travel to some of the away games. We went to Dallas in ’06 when they won, Washington D.C. in ’07 when they won again, and Los Angeles in ’11 for the Cup. I’ve also been to Los Angeles at Home Depot for a regular season game against Chivas USA when Chivas ex-coach Preki tried to tackle and threw a right cross at Kinnear after the game. It was insane!

Anyway, tonight we watched Houston win their first game in Canada, the AC Milan v Chelsea game, and lastly the Galaxy v FC Dallas game. There’s plenty of good soccer in MLS and if you want the sport to grow and be better then you have to support it. There’s a reason why the MLS Allstars actually beat Chelsea this year, the league is getting better and better.

  5. Why don’t you pop in a Barcelona highlight tape so you can rub out that euro fanboy woody you got there? Ill take a league where half the teams make the playoffs over a league dominated by 2 teams any given day. Just because you’re too slow to comprehend the regular season doesn’t mean it doesn’t mean anything. You do realize the regular season is what decideds the playoff seeding right?

MLS doesn’t need annoying eurodouchbag fans like yourself so you can go to games and bust a nut because Beckhams on the field.

  6. I watched online with my wife while we were at the hospital and it was a good game. Dom really has the guys playing well right now. Happy for Ching to finally bag a goal too

  7. Oh i watch. My point is that the season is boring to follow. Their is no drama when over half the league makes the playoffs. And this is probably why no one is watching. We certainly have enough soccer fans in the U.S. Why aren’t they watching?

  8. my thoughts are this:

when even soccer fans have a hard time getting interested in the MLS regular season then there is a problem.

the regular season is beyond pointless. There is no drama during the regular season.

might as well just let every team into the MLS cup
