FC Dallas, Earthquakes settle for scoreless draw after missing chances

The San Jose Earthquakes and FC Dallas played to an entertaining draw on Saturday night, but it was a scoreless one due to both sides failing to put away chances.

The Earthquakes and FC Dallas played to a goal-less draw at FC Dallas Stadium, a result that extended Dallas' winless streak to 13 games and gave Western Conference leaders San Jose its first cleansheet since March.

The match also marked David Ferreira's first start in more than 14 months. Ferreira helped FC Dallas sustain some attacks, but he never was able to crack the Earthquakes' defense.

Both teams had chances to take leads, but neither capitalized on them. MLS leading goal-scorer Chris Wondolowski had a shot cleared off the line by FC Dallas defender Hernan Pertuz in the first half, and Fabian Castillo saw his chance to put the hosts up blocked by Jason Hernandez.
