Chivas USA added some quality defensive depth on Friday with the acquisition of the rights to veteran MLS centerback Bobby Burling. The Goats landed Burling's rights from Montreal in exchange for an international roster slot in 2013.

Burling returns to Chivas USA, where he played from 2007 to 2009. He was acquired in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft by the Impact, but never played a game for Montreal. Burling was a regular for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2011.

Chivas USA must still sign Burling to a contract, but made room for his anticipated acquisition by waiving Scott Gordon.

Here are some other recent MLS notes to catch you up on league proceedings:

Signed from Greek Super League side Droxa Drama FC, the 25-year-old Markovic was added to the KC roster after the team waived defender Shawn Singh.
