Tim Cahill will make his New York Red Bulls debut at Red Bull Arena Tuesday night, as the Red Bulls host Tottenham in the Barclays New York Cup (7 p.m., ESPN2/

Cahill, who is in the starting XI, will look to replicate Thierry Henry's feat of scoring against Tottenham in his Red Bulls debut, something he did two summers ago. Henry won't get a chance to score on Tottenham again, as he sitting out for the match, left off the team sheet altogether. The match also marks the return of Red Bulls midfielder Teemu Tainio from a long injury layoff, and he is in the starting lineup along with Cahill.

Tottenham will be looking for their second win over the Red Bulls in three years after defeating New York 2-1 on the day of Henry's debut. Gareth Bale and current Los Angeles Galaxy striker Robbie Keane scored the goals for Spurs that day, and Bale is starting after escaping a major ankle injury following a rough tackle in the club's scoreless draw against Liverpool in Baltimore on Saturday.

  1. I know what you mean bryan. Something about taylors analysis commenting sounds too condesending. The problem is he does it always, never really compliments is always a debbie downer.

  2. Made a smart run, and took the lobbed ball over the top really well against his chest, and made sure to get himself clear in front of the defender. Don’t think he would’ve scored, but he got the penalty.

  3. As much as i hate ntseeing henry up top i think this is ery smart by backe. No ned to risk injury on meaningless game as much as i wantrbnybto win, not worth it. I am reallynlookingforward to seeing cahil play.
