Luis Silva scored the first two goals of his professional career during the past week, and for that he has won SBI's MLS Rookie of the Week award.

The Toronto FC rookie netted his first goal last Wednesday in the Reds' 3-2 victory over Canadian rival, the Montreal Impact. And he followed that up by scoring the winner in this past Sunday's 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution, a goal that capped a memorable week for the young forward out of UC Santa Barbara.

Honorable mention for this week's award goes to Vancouver Whitecaps forward Darren Mattocks, Austin Berry of the Chicago Fire and FC Dallas' Matt Hedges.

What do you think of Silva winning SBI's MLS Rookie of the Week award? Think it should have been someone else? Impressed by his goals?

  1. Always thought Silva was worthy of TFC’s starting XI since he was drafted… Winter just never gave him a fair chance.

  2. Silva did actually find the net during Champions League play at the start of this year so these are not his first professional goals although they are his first in MLS league play.
