Diskerud signs half-season deal with Rosenborg

Mix Diskerud might be changing addresses, but he won't be leaving Norway after all.

The former U.S. Under-23 men's national team midfielder signed a deal with Norwegian club Rosenborg BK that runs through the end of the year on Thursday. Diskerud joins Rosenborg on a transfer from Stabaek IF, which is in last place in the Eliteserien standings and is in financial trouble.

Diskerud had been training with third-place Rosenborg in recent days, but he opted for a short-term contract to see how he fits at the club before committing to any long-term deal. The 21-year-old central midfielder had spent the first half of the Norwegian season loan with Belgian outfit KAA Gent.

What do you think of Diskerud joining Rosenborg? Expecting him to earn a starting role at the club? Do you see him staying after his deal ends at the end of the year?

  1. I think it’s a smart move to sign a short term deal. Hopefully he starts to play cnsistently. he has talent and tachnical skill, but he lacks fitness and strength on the ball.

  2. He’s great when he’s on (see U23s vs. Mexico last August), but he’s inconsistent.

When he starts playing at that level with consistency, he’ll be starting for the Nats (no earlier than 2015, though).

  3. And Boyd scores in stoppage time for Rapid to make it 2-0 and that’s the game. Great showing from Terrence today 🙂

  4. He’s talented, but seems to be unable to generate much interest in Europe. I’m not sure if he has the intensity, work rate and defensive chops Euro coaches want. I think the Portugese translation of his name might sound something like Benny Feilhaber.

  5. Not the right post, but Boyd just drew a PK for Rapid in the 90th minute and Alar buried it to tie the aggregate at 2-2, but with Rapid ahead on away goals. Boyd coming through in the clutch again! The kid is nice with it!

  6. I wish this kid some good luck. Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and thinks every move through. I just hope things start clicking for him.
