The days of the Columbus Crew being criticized for their lackluster offense may be over.

First the arrival of Jairo Arrieta provided a good spark to the team's forward line, and now Federico Higuain has begun his MLS career in style.

The Argentine newcomer notched a goal and assist to help lead the Crew to a 2-1 victory over Toronto FC at Crew Stadium on Wednesday night.

Gaven helped Columbus jump out to a lead in the fourth minute when he finished off a Higuain pass to make the score 1-0. Higuain made it 2-0 in the 58th minute when he converted an Arrieta pass for his first MLS goal.

Toronto FC rookie midfielder Luis Silva continued his Rookie of the Year run with a goal to pull TFC within a goal in the 71st minute. That's as close as TFC came as the Crew held on for the victory, which secured the Trillium Cup, which goes to the winner of the TFC-Columbus season series.

The match was the one re-scheduled after the death of Columbus midfielder Kirk Urso. It was originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 5th, but was changed so the Crew could attend Urso's funural.

Here are the match highlights:
