The two hottest teams in Major League Soccer face off tonight with playoff dreams on the line as the Montreal Impact visit Crew Stadium to take on the Columbus Crew.
The Impact and Crew wouldn't have been pegged to be playing a Game of the Week candidate a month ago, but Montreal's five-game winning streak and the Crew's five-match unbeaten streak have changed things and now both teams are on the verge of breaking into the playoff places in the Eastern Conference.
Tonight's MLS schedule features five matches, including a tasty inter-conference clash between D.C. United and Real Salt Lake. RSL is trying to gather some momentum and make a run at first place in the West, while D.C. United will be eager to post a road victory and avoid losing any more ground on the Impact and Crew.
Here is SBI's weekend MLS preview looking at all of tonight's matches, and here is my FOX Soccer look at the top matches of the weekend (with a look at Caleb Porter's hiring as Portland head coach).

Gooooooooooo D.C.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mistake, just wasn’t on because of the lightning delay.
NBC sports had a game yesterday and one tomorrow. This the opening weekend of college football which trumps MLS as far as ESPN is concerned The end of the Crew – Impact game was suprising…bye bye Impact it was a good run
I can’t believe I can’t find just ONE of these games on cable.
DC United is on Comcast Sportsnet. The local channel.
DC United games, including this one, usually aren’t on local DC TV.
They are televised locally, but I agree that there are several games here that would be good enough to make NBC or ESPN’s lineup.
It’s pathetic that MLS can’t get any of these games televised. How are they going to gain popularity if the only people who can watch games are the ones who are already committed enough to shell out for Direct Kick?
