Americans Abroad: A Look Ahead

If seeing the U.S. Men’s National Team players lock up a berth into the next round of World Cup qualifying was not enough to satisfy your soccer cravings, you’re in luck, because there are plenty of appetizing matches involving Americans to watch this weekend.

Two of the biggest games will take place over in England, with Clint Dempsey and fifth-place Tottenham hosting league leaders Chelsea while Geoff Cameron, Maurice Edu and Stoke City pay a visit to Old Trafford to battle Manchester United. Just how many minutes each of the three Americans will receive after having played in the U.S. win over Guatemala on Tuesday remains to be seen, but they all should be able to at least partake in some capacity.

Terrence Boyd is also set for one of the weekend’s most intriguing fixtures, as he and Rapid Vienna travel to take on Austria Vienna in their second tilt of the season. Boyd and the rest of the Green-Whites dropped the first Vienna derby at home, so they will be aiming for some payback on Sunday.

Wondering what other match is worth following? Look no further than Helsingborgs IF’s home game against Orebro SK on Sunday. The match will mark Alejandro Bedoya’s first clash against his former club, and he will want to deliver a good outing for them to remember him by.
