The San Jose Earthquakes continued to control the Western Conference through the month of September, posting an unbeaten 3-0-2 record to stay ahead of the pack, not only in the West, but in the overall league as well.

There were plenty of players who played key roles in the latest outstanding month for San Jose, but none was as important as MLS scoring leader Chris Wondolowski, who notched four goals and two assists in his team's five matches. He scored or set up the game-tying or game-winning goal in three different matches, which made him the clear-cut choice for SBI MLS Player of the Month.

Wondolowski beat out a strong field of candidates that included LA Galaxy midfielder Juninho, teammate Alan Gordon and Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi for September honors.

The selection marks the third time Wondolowski has taken the honor. He was also named SBI MLS Player of the Month in April and June.

What did you think of Wondolowski's performance in September? Which player impressed you the most last month?
