Stage One of the MLS Re-Entry Draft came and went in the blink of an eye, and the lone player selected in it was Maicon Santos.

The former D.C. United forward was picked up by the Chicago Fire on Friday, and he will now join the Fire under the terms of the option that had recently been declined by United. Santos started 16 of the 26 regular season games he played in for United in 2012, scoring seven goals and assisting on three others in the process.

The Fire mark Santos’ fifth different MLS club since he joined the league in 2010. Aside from United, the 28-year-old Brazilian has also played for Chivas USA, Toronto FC and FC Dallas.

Players not chosen on Friday will be eligible for Stage Two of the draft, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 14.

What do you think of the Fire acquiring Maicon Santos? Expecting him to stick around there for more than one season? Disappointed by the lack of player movement in this round of the Re-Entry Draft?
