Marquez returns to Mexico by joining Leon

Just in case New York Red Bulls fans needed more confirmation of Rafa Marquez’s departure, in comes word that he has already found a new home in Mexico.

Hours after mutually agreeing to part ways with the Red Bulls, Marquez signed a deal with Leon, the Mexican club announced on Thursday. The move marks the controversial Marquez’s return to Mexico, where he has not played club soccer since 1999 while with Atlas.

Leon recently secured promotion to Liga MX, and have signed the 33-year-old Marquez and former Mexican national team forward Nery Castillo as reinforcements.

What do you think of Leon signing Marquez? Are you already picturing the club getting relegated after Marquez is ejected in the final game of the year? Too busy celebrating his Red Bulls departure to care?
