Manchester United already boasts a loaded stable of forwards, but they appear ready to add yet another star striker to the mix.
German publication Bild is reporting that Manchester United is lining up a 22 million euro transfer offer for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. The 24-year-old Polish forward is a key figure for Borussia Dortmund, but his wage demands and the fact that he only has a year left on his current Dortmund contract after this season makes him expendable.
If Lewandowski signs with Manchester United, he will join former Dortmund teammate Shinji Kagawa, who made the move from the Bundesliga to Premier League last summer.

SNEIJDER SHOOTS DOWN SPURS REPORTS
Reports out of Italy had Wesley Sneijder heading to Tottenham from Inter Milan, but a Dutch report has shot those down, with Sneijder’s camp insisting there is no truth to a move to Tottenham.
Sneijder was cited in the report directly, stating there have been no talks with Tottenham, and pointing out that his high salary means he is only likely to leave Inter Milan for one of Europe’s top teams, or one of the big-spending teams in Russia.
MAN UNITED WINS, CITY FALLS ON BOXING DAY
Javier Hernandez’s 90th-minute winner capped a dramatic, goal-filled match as Manchester United battled back from deficits on three occasions to post a 4-3 Boxing Day victory against Newcastle.
United’s victory, coupled with Manchester City’s 1-0 loss to Sunderland, extended the Red Devils’ lead atop the English Premier League to seven points. City fell at the hands of a former City player, with Adam Johnson scoring the winner for the Black Cats.
Stoke City posted one of the day’s more impressive results, handing Liverpool a 3-1 loss to push the Potters unbeaten streak to nine matches.
Clint Dempsey sat out his second straight match due to a groin injury, but Tottenham didn’t miss a beat, handing Aston Villa a 4-0 thumping at Villa Park. Gareth Bale’s hat-trick led the way for Spurs.

BLACKBURN BOUNCES BERG
Beleaguered League Championship side Blackburn has fired manager Henning Berg after less than two months in charge.
The same club that took so long to finally dump Steve Kean wasted little time getting rid of Berg, who managed just one victory during his time in charge of the club, which had lost five of its past six matches.
Former Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is rumored to be in the running for the top spot. Hughes was recently fired as Queens Park Rangers manager.
