Americans Abroad: Weekend Preview

Geoff Cameron was still relatively new to the Premiership the last time Stoke City faced Chelsea, but he will aim to take all that he has learned since then when the two clubs square off this weekend.

Stoke City and fourth-place Chelsea will do battle on Saturday at Britannia Stadium, and the Potters are in need of a victory after winning just one of their last six league games. For that to happen for Stoke, Cameron will need to help shut down Chelsea strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba as well as midfielders Frank Lampard and Oscar.

In Italy, Michael Bradley and AS Roma will attempt to bounce back from their embarrassing start to 2013. Roma suffered a 4-1 defeat to Napoli last weekend, and they will need to go on the road and knock off Catania on Sunday in order to get back on track and close in on one of Serie A’s two Europa League spots.

Another match that could be worth keeping an eye on is Oguchi Onyewu and Malaga’s battle with Barcelona. Onyewu is not guaranteed to start in the high-profile duel, but if he does he will have a chance to showcase his skills against recent Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and the rest of Barcelona’s star-studded cast.
