Espinoza, Bernardez headline Honduras roster for upcoming USMNT qualifier

Honduras head coach Luis Suarez has released the roster that will take on the U.S. Men’s National Team in their World Cup qualifier on Feb. 6, and it is loaded.

Roger Espinoza, Victor Bernardez and Maynor Figueroa headline Honduras’ 23-man roster for their battle with the U.S. at San Pedro Sula next Wednesday. The squad also includes D.C. United youngster Andy Najar, Seattle Sounders midfielder Mario Martinez and long-time goalkeeper Noel Valladares, who will earn his 100th cap in the match should he play.

In total, five of the players on Los Catrachos’ roster currently ply their trade in MLS while 11 others play in Honduras. The remaining seven are based in Europe.

Goalkeepers: Noel Valladares (Olimpia), Donis Escober (Olimpia), Jose Mendoza (Marathon).

Defenders: Arnold Peralta (Vida), Brayan Beckeles (Olimpia),Victor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes), Osman Chavez (Wisla), Maynor Figueroa (Wigan), Juan Pablo Montes (Platense), Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic), Juan Carlos Garcia (Olimpia).

Midfielders: Luis Garrido (Red Star Belgrade), Jorge Claros (Hibernian), Roger Espinoza (Wigan), Alex Lopez (Olimpia), Andy Najar (D.C. United), Oscar Boniek Garcia (Houston Dynamo), Mario Martinez (Seattle Sounders), Aldo Oviedo (Real Espana).

Forwards: Jerry Bengtson (New England Revolution), Roger Rojas (Olimpia), Carlo Costly (Veria), Georgie Welcome (Motagua)
