Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee has announced that DC United captain Dwayne De Rosario has been suspended for two matches and fined an undisclosed amount, following a red card for violent conduct in a pre-season match.
De Rosario was shown the red card in the 60th minute of a match against the Philadelphia Union on February 23, after a tackle to Philadelphia’s Danny Cruz.
The MLS Players Union appealed the decision, and the appeal was heard yesterday by MLS commissioner Don Garber, with Garber upholding the two-match suspension and fine.
De Rosario will now miss the first two DC United matches of the season, away to Houston Dynamo on March 2, and home against Real Salt Lake on March 9. De Rosario is eligible to return on March 16, away to the New York Red Bulls.
What do you think of the MLS Disciplinary Committee’s decision on De Rosario? Do you believe it was appropriate? Do you see DC United winning their first two matches without him?

That was an idiotic thing for Dero to do. IT’S PRESEASON!!
B.S.
preseason fool. gawd.
well, it will be very interesting to see the lineups without him now that bosko is gone. should be a lot of shifting. i know we have talent and cover but it will be totally different. hopefully no injuries this year and longer spans out for dero.
not really alot of shifting
there were only two games that bosko started for dero last year after the late-season injury
but i’m hoping Ben doesnt try the same bandaid solution he did last year
ugh
That is a PIMP kit. They should do that regularly, perhaps with red shirt
Good. I’d imagine that Ben Olsen gave him a good tongue lashing for needlessly getting himself suspended for the first two games of the season against two tough opponents. Great player, total punk.
anybody got a link to see the play?
I read somewhere that is was not available. I believe because the game was not streamed live or something like that.
Reminds me of Andy Najar’s needless suspension at the end of last season.
What is it with soccer players and headbutts? How foolish.
Cruz and DeRo were teammates?
Former teammates. Cruz was on DCU at the start of last season.
Ben Olsen is actually in favor of this. He said that the league needs to clean up preseason, that it’s too violent at the end before the start of the season.
Where did Olsen say that? And it is a bit funny coming from him 🙂
Never mind. I found it.
