As many injuries as there were for American players this past week, and as many reasons to worry as there seem to be now for the U.S. Men’s National team, it was still a pretty good week for several American players.

Herculez Gomez and Amobi Okugo are two such players who enjoyed memorable weeks. Gomez scored a quality free kick goal to help lead Santos Laguna to a victory while Okugo scored the first goal of his professional career in a Philadelphia Union road win against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday.

Both Gomez and Okugo are guests on the latest episode of The SBI Podcast. We talk USMNT and CONCACAF Champions League with Gomez, among other things, while we catch up with Okugo on the state of the Philadelphia Union and his own USMNT aspirations.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss the recent rash of injuries for the USMNT, and we break down the weekend’s action in MLS as well.
