FC Dallas has been one of the surprises of the early part of the 2013 season and few players have played a larger role in that early success than Brazilian Jackson Goncalves.
The winger has enjoyed an impressive run of form and his efforts, including his hustle to force Josh Saunders into a goal-producing blunder, were key to FC Dallas’ 2-0 victory against Real Salt Lake on Saturday. Jackson’s overall performance made him a solid choice to be this week’s SBI MLS Player of the Week.
Jackson beat out a strong field of candidates that included Chivas USA’s Edgar Mejia and Juan Agudelo, New England’s Matt Reis and the LA Galaxy’s Mike Magee.
What did you think of Jackson’s performance against RSL? Which MLS player impressed you the most in Week Four?

I am from the N. Texas area and love FC Dallas. Although the start has been well, for them to have continued success, they must possess the ball better than they have. Many goals have come from set pieces (3 I believe) and I think the rest have come from counter attacks or catching the midfield from the opposing team sleeping leaving the back line to contend with the crazy speed of the FC Dallas attackers. I can’t remeber any goals coming from a actual build up in play. They have the players to do it, but Ferreria has to touch the ball more than he has since he is the only one with the vision and passing ability to do so. Which means he needs to be in the center of the park, not on the outside like he was against RSL.
Not surprised they started well. This has been plauged by injuries, but the talent to compete and be contenders has always been there. Since they lost the MLS cup they have a string of unfortunate injuries to key players. They have added depth this year and are now healthy. Watch Out.
Edgar Meija for Chivas looks dangerous. Straight up dangerous.
I am glad he is not playing in the Eastern Conference.
This guy has always been dangerous. It was the final touch he had been lacking. He has more to do, and more oppurtunities, since Shea is not longer with the team.
I’ves, I believe Andrew Driver needs to be listed as a runner up as well….This guy is a serious player
The midfield is playing well, the defense is solid, now if the strikers can get on the same page they could make a deep run in the playoffs.
