Soccer Sunday: Your Running Commentary

Ryan Giggs of Manchester United in action with Juan Mata of Chelsea

By MICHAEL KLINE

Sunday’s soccer activity involves four of the biggest clubs in England, with both Premier League and FA Cup action on display.

The hopes of cup glory are on the line, as well as aspirations of competing in next season’s Champions League.

Tottenham visit Anfield in a Premier League matchup that includes two of the best players in the English game. Both Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale sit among the top three scorers in England, and the man in better form today may very well decide the fate of the match. Tottenham sit rather safely in third place at the moment, but with ten matches left, nothing can be certain. Liverpool will be looking to ride their good form at home, and spoil the Spurs’ hope at finishing top four.

Manchester United and Chelsea will kick off just 30 minutes after Liverpool and Tottenham, in a crucial sixth round FA Cup clash between the two massive clubs. Chelsea have a staggering record in the competition over the past several season, with the London club having won four of the past six tournaments. Sir Alex Ferguson, however, will be looking to reverse his recent fortune, and win the tournament for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
