Toronto FC had everything set up for a statement victory. They were playing well, had a go-ahead goal, an opposing team missing several starters to injury and a red card leaving their opponent a man down.

Everything as aligned perfectly. And then the Houston Dynamo spoiled the party at BMO Field in the final minute of stoppage time, becoming the latest team to find a late goal to snatch points away from TFC.

Warren Creavalle headed home a Ricardo Clark header in the 94th minute to help the Dynamo salvage a 1-1 draw on Saturday in a match that TFC looked destined to win for much of the afternoon.

The draw pushes TFC’s unbeaten streak to four matches, but all four of those results have been draws, and three of those draws came as a result of stoppage-time equalizers scored by their opponents.

Toronto had the better of the play in the first half, but had no goals to show for it as the teams went into halftime scoreless. When Brad Davis failed to comeback after halftime because of a groin injury, Houston looked finished. A questionable red card issued to Jermaine Taylor for a foul on Robert Earnshaw put the Dynamo under even more pressure.

Toronto FC found their goal in the 58th minute when Jeremy Hall hit a hard and low shot just inside the left post to make it 1-0. When Taylor was sent off just four minutes later the match seemed a foregone conclusion.

Only Houston didn’t quit and TFC didn’t find the killer blow, which left the door open for Creavalle’s last-gasp equalizer, which helped give the Dynamo their first road point of the season.

  1. somebody needs to say it.. that red card was a joke. Talk about embellishment. Now having said that.. the Dynamo once again look terrible on the road and especially in the second half.

  2. Damn 6 points due to a lack in concentration. Ryan Nelson is to blame if his team are undisciplined. This coming from a Galaxy man.

    • True dat. Been impressed with Creavalle, though, extending back to last season.

I could tell he was a sleeper pick when we took him 2 SuperDrafts ago.

      • Yep, some Dom magic there. I can see him eventually being a utility Jonathan Spector type with more pace for the US if he keeps improving. Thinking way too far ahead obviously, but I think he could be a very good player in the future.
