With the Liguilla almost dawning upon the Clausura tournament, Monterrey is in danger of missing out on the playoffs.
Monterrey beat Pachuca last week, but the problem for the Rayados has been winning on the road. Monterrey have yet to register a win on the road this season and that has cost them heavily, making remaining in the top eight a difficult challenge.
Meanwhile, fellow CONCACAF Champions League finalist Santos Laguna are aiming for a provisional top spot in the table if they’re able to hold down Monterrey tonight.
Santos are 5-1-1 at home this season and win will not only just secure them a spot in the Liguilla, but just might ruin Monterrey’s chances of seeing post-season spot.
Here is a look at what else is going on in Liga MX this weekend:
TIGRES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK VS. PACHUCA
UANL Tigres suffered their first loss of the season last week, falling to UNAM Pumas, and they will look to bounce back against a Pachuca side looking to record the upset in order to potentially beat out Monterrey for a playoff spot.
Jose Torres and Tigres are currently just one point ahead of Atlas for the top spot, but a tough stretch of upcoming matches could leave the club vulnerable, especially if they drop points against Pachuca.
