When the Colorado Rapids traveled to Canada last weekend for their clash vs. the Montreal Impact, you couldn’t like their chances of snapping a three-match losing streak. Not when they were facing a rested Impact side coming off a bye week, and a team that was 6-0-1 at Stade Saputo heading into Saturday.
The Rapids defied convention and not only snapped their losing streak, they also handed Montreal their first home loss of the season, rallying from behind on two occasions to earn a thrilling 4-3 victory. A result that made Colorado the SBI MLS Team of the Week for Week 18.
The Rapids narrowly edged out the San Jose Earthquakes for this week’s nod, with San Jose rallying from 2-0 down despite being a man down to beat the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Colorado used sharp passing and opportunistic finishing to knock off the East-leading Impact, with four different Rapids scoring goals, including Tony Cascio’s stoppage-time winner.
What did you think of Colorado’s performance? Which team impressed you the most in MLS Week 18?
