The Gold Cup quarterfinals highlight this weekend’s soccer action, but there will also be several club friendlies televised to help pass the time.
The Gold Cup quarterfinals kicks off on Saturday when Panama faces Cuba, followed by Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago. Cuba will be riding an emotional high following their stoppage time goal which put them into the quarterfinals for the first time since 2003, while Mexico will be looking to put their early Gold Cup problems behind them.
On Sunday, Honduras will duke it out with Costa Rica before the U.S. Men’s National Team takes on El Salvador. Costa Rica had gone 785 minutes without allowing a goal prior to Brek Shea’s winner in their match against the USA, the only goal preventing them from being unbeaten in the group stages.
The USMNT made four changes to their Gold Cup roster, and it will be seen whether they feature in Sunday’s match. Matt Besler is a likely inclusion to the starting lineup.
