Michael Bradley and AS Roma will attempt to rebound this season after disappointingly finishing in sixth place in the 2012-13 campaign, and their first test comes this weekend.
Bradley and Roma get their Serie A season underway on Sunday, as they take a trip to Stadio Armando Picchi to battle recently-promoted Livorno. The Yellow-Reds are hoping to compete for the league title this season after an underwhelming last campaign that saw them miss out on Europe, and three points on the road would be a great way for Roma and Bradley to kick things off.
Eric Lichaj and Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a strong start to their season, going a perfect 3-0 while conceding no goals. Those impressive numbers, along with the Reds’ first-place standing in the Championship, will be put to the test when Nottingham go on the road to take on Watford on Sunday in a match of the top two teams in England’s second division.
While Lichaj will be aiming to help his club extend its shutout streak, Aron Johannsson will try and keep his scoring run alive. Johannsson has netted in five straight games, including in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League victory vs. Atromitos, and will look to add to prolong that impressive scoring spell when AZ Alkmaar visit FC Utrecht on Sunday.

Which of these matches are you most looking forward to? How do you see Bradley and Roma faring this season? Expecting Lichaj and Nottingham to win this weekend?

Will be interesting to see whether Geoff Cameron again slots into right back for Stoke. If yes, and he plays as well as he did last week against Liverpool, then he has to be at the top of the list for RB for the USMNT’s September qualifiers. The hometown Stoke newspaper is calling him a right back.

The man is a freaking chameleon. Never would have thought of him as a RB and can’t help but think of his best suited position to be as a stay at home CM, but….. necessity w/ the Nats and opportunity with club seem to point more and more to that being where he is most likely to end up. He definitely has the tools and Stoke asking him to push forward more can only help him to better fit the mold of a RB in Klinsman’s system.
I agree that for the NATS, I think I prefer him at CM. Indeed, I still think he’s the best pairing with Bradley, though Sascha may change my mind if he plays like he did against Bosnia a few more times. But there’s no doubt that Geoff’s adaptability makes him a very useful player to the side in Brazil, even if he isn’t in the Starting XI.
i’m still not sold on him at RB. like Ives has pointed out, he lacks the ability to get forward well…much like Parkhurst. and since JK loves to play fullbacks who get into the attack, i’m just not sold on him there…yet.
we’ll see if he can keep it up though. it’s also good to hear Dolo should be back soon.
He’s never going to play at center back for Stoke City unless Shawcross and Huth get injured.
I’m looking forward to Freddy Adu and Bahia playing Nautico. Can’t believe how terrible it has gone for such a talented kid.
it has. although, Adu did get like 28 minutes in their last game. and according to a few reviews i saw, he did well and was energetic. it was 1-1 when he came on and they ended up going on to win the game.
Good to know…..thanks for the info bryan
yeah no problem. i believe MLS has an article on it.
So is Sebastian Lletget the real deal? What are the thoughts on him? How can he fit into the USMNT fold? CAM? In the hole behind the forwards? Do you guys rate him over Mix?
he could eventually become the real deal, sure. he had a great preseason and scored this week for the reserve team. if he can break his way into the first team, then i think we can start a real discussion on him.
I think he has a chance to break through for the 2018 squad. I personally haven’t seen him in action much so I don’t know where he would fit in exactly. Right now he is not above Mix, but he could take that role later on and force Mix to drop back next to Bradley.
Good player that’s promising but definitely not above Mix yet…Mix has a pretty good hold on that backup CAM role behind Bradley.
If Dempsey on played in Canada, then we could add him to this list… =)

Freddy Adu, never has a player made so much money with so little time on the pitch.

Dempsey doesn’t play overseas anymore.
“Americans Abroad”
2nd word is key.
Imagine if we had to update this column to “Americans Everywhere”…quite a bit of reading.
What if…. he was in Vancouver…. Can we count that?
I vote no for Vancouver but Montreal hmmm…. maybe.
