Report: Dempsey left out, Brooks called in to USMNT squad for friendly vs. Bosnia

Clint Dempsey

By DAN KARELL

Clint Dempsey has had a busy few weeks, which is likely why U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has reportedly decided to make it a little less busy.

According to a report from Sports Illustrated,  Klinsmann has left Dempsey off his squad ahead of the U.S. team’s friendly on Wednesday in Sarajevo against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The report states that Dempsey’s new Sounders teammates, Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans, have been included on the roster.

It is entirely possible that Dempsey is missing the friendly match due to a lack of fitness, having recently commented that he is still working his way back and had only played parts of two club friendly matches this summer with Tottenham.

In addition to the news about the Sounders players, the report also stated that John Anthony Brooks has been called in for the Bosnia and Herzegovina match. A development that appeared likely after Brooks was left off a German U-21 National Team he was recently called up for.

What do you think of these developments? Surprised that Dempsey was left off the roster?
