Brooks, Donovan and Johannsson among players called up to USMNT World Cup qualifying squad

U.S. Men’s National Team newcomers John Brooks and Aron Johannsson headline a strong squad called in for the team’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers vs. Costa Rica and Mexico.

U.S. stars Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Landon Donovan and Jozy Altidore lead the squad as it attempts to secure qualification to the 2014 World Cup.

The Americans are riding a 12-match winning streak into the upcoming qualifiers, and several of the key contributors during that winning streak headline the group called in.

Clarence Goodson, Sacha Kljestan, Michael Parkhurst, Jose Torres, Terrence Boyd and Joe Corona were among the players left out of the squad for September’s qualifiers.

DEFENDER– DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, John Brooks, Geoff Cameron, Edgar Castillo, Brad Evans, Omar Gonzalez, Michael Orozco

The U.S. travel to San Jose, Costa Rica to face the ‘Ticos’ on Sept. 6th before returning to the United States to face Mexico in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 10th.
