By DAN KARELL

Alan Pulido had a coming of age performance on Saturday.

In the Clasico Regiomontano on Saturday between Tigres UANL and Monterrey, Pulido enjoyed one of the best games of his young career, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory for Tigres over their arch rivals at home in the Estadio Universitario.

The 22-year-old former Mexican youth international opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a close range header, before adding his second with a left footed strike into the corner in the 39th minute.

Sandwiched between Pulido’s brace was a Humberto Suazo goal for Rayados in the 22nd minute to level the scoreline at the time, but Pulido’s second was enough to ensure victory. Putting icing on the Tigres cake was Argentine midfielder Lucas Lobos, who whizzed a low strike past Monterrey goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco.

The win sends Tigres back up the Liga MX table to tenth place, while Monterrey drop to 15th place.

Here’s a closer look at some other Liga MX matches from Apertura Week 4:

XOLOS SHUT OUT PUMAS

Club Tijuana seems set early on to make the Estadio Caliente a fortress and difficult place for visitors to win in.

Keeping their undefeated record intact at home, Xolos used goals from Fidel Martinez and Raul Enriquez to defeat Pumas UNAM, 2-0, on Friday in Tijuana.

In the tenth minute, Martinez found himself in the box with space to head home, and did so past the out-stretched arms of Pumas goalkeeper Miguel Palacios. Just short of an hour into the match, Enriquez arrived at the end of a corner kick, heading the ball past Palacios by beating him to the ball.

Xolos goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo kept his clean sheet with a tremendous save in the 72nd minute, and Pumas did themselves no favors three minutes later, going down a man thanks to a second yellow card shown to Candido Ramirez.

AMERICA ROLL OVER ATLANTE

Club America must have been licking their lips when they saw a trip to woeful Atlante early in the Apertura schedule.

The Mexico City-based powerhouse played as well as expected, scoring four second-half goals in 20 minutes to defeat Atlante, 4-2, at the Estadio Andres Quintana Roo.

Despite the final result, it was Atlante who took a shocking lead in the 58th minute, when Alberto Garcia scored on a bicycle kick off a poorly cleared corner kick. Ten minutes later, America tied it up when Maza Rodriguez directed a header for a goal. Two minutes later, Narciso Mina put the visitors ahead with a close range finish.

In the 74th minute, Atlante forward Diego Jimenez scored a goal to tie the score but eight minutes later, Raul Jimenez gave America the lead for good with a penalty kick. In the 86th minute, Andres Andrade put the game away for America, scoring into the far post on a one-on-one break with Atlante goalkeeper Yosgart Gutierrez.
