Since moving into Sporting Park mid-way through the 2011 season, the New York Red Bulls had failed to defeat Sporting Kansas City on the road.
On Saturday, the Red Bulls ended their drought, stunning a sold-out crowd with a 3-2 victory over Sporting KC, their first victory against the club since April 30, 2011. The win also sent the Red Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference, making them an easy choice for SBI MLS Team of the Week.
The Red Bulls beat out the Houston Dynamo, Seattle Sounders, and D.C. United for this week’s award.
