The last time that Club America and Santos Laguna met, it was a battle of the best offense (America) against the best defense (Santos Laguna).

As it turned out, defense won, as Santos Laguna held on for a 1-0 victory over the eventual Clausura champions. However, this time around on Friday evening at the Estadio Torreon, America have the best defense and second-best offense in Liga MX, trailing only Morelia in goals scored by two. America have a goal differential of plus-12, while Santos sit at just +4.

Regardless, players like Oribe Peralta of Santos and Raul Jimenez and Francisco “Maza” Rodriguez of America return to their clubs, looking to overcome the disappointment of the two losses for Mexico during the international break.

Elsewhere in Liga MX this weekend, Veracruz host Club Leon, Tigres UANL visit Cruz Azul, and Club Tijuana faces Chivas in Guadalajara.
